Laravel Forge Adds Managed Valkey Caches and Object Storage

As part of Laravel's June 2026 product updates, published on July 2nd, Laravel Forge gained two managed datastores: Valkey caches and object storage. Both are provisioned and managed directly from the Forge dashboard, extending the set of infrastructure you can stand up without leaving the tool.

Managed Valkey Caches

Per the Forge changelog, Valkey is now available as a fully managed datastore in Forge, provisioned and managed directly from the dashboard. Valkey is a community-driven, open-source, in-memory datastore that forked from Redis, and it speaks the same protocol, so from your application's perspective it behaves like the cache and queue backend you are already used to configuring.

For a Laravel app, that means you point your cache and queue configuration at the managed Valkey instance rather than installing and babysitting the daemon yourself. The value is operational: provisioning, and the ongoing management of the datastore, happen through Forge instead of manual server administration.

Managed Object Storage

The second addition is managed object storage. According to the changelog, Forge now offers managed object storage, so you can create and manage buckets from the dashboard alongside your servers and databases. Object storage is where you keep user uploads, generated exports, backups, and other files you do not want living on the application server's local disk.

Laravel already abstracts file storage through its filesystem layer and the Storage facade, so wiring an app up to a bucket is a matter of configuring a disk. Having the bucket itself provisioned from the same dashboard as your servers keeps the whole stack in one place.

Why It Matters

The theme across Forge's recent releases is consolidation. Servers, databases, and now caches and object storage can all be created and managed from a single dashboard. For small teams without a dedicated operations person, that reduces the number of separate consoles and providers you have to juggle to run a production Laravel app.

If you are already on Forge, these show up as new options when provisioning resources. If you are weighing hosting choices, it is one more data point in the ongoing comparison between Forge, which manages servers you own, and Laravel Cloud, which is a fully managed platform.
